What started out as a minor wreck along the Interstate 30 between Oakland Boulevard and Beach Street ended in tragedy as several civic-minded citizens were killed while stopping to help a crash victim.
The minor wreck involved a BMW in which several cars passed, many of whom were on their way home after a night out with friends on a Saturday. While standing outside their vehicles, a tractor-trailer that tried to put on the brakes smashed into the victims and their cars. 5 people were killed including the driver of the BMW and 12 were seriously injured as a result of the truck accident.
More Details of the Truck Accident
Investigators said that the truck was carrying print copies of the Sunday Fort Worth Star-Telegram when the driver hit the parked vehicles at the accident site. The impact caused a fire onboard the truck and burned two other parked vehicles at the scene. The investigation is still ongoing, and it was initially reported that the truck driver was not intoxicated or drunk at the time.
Recovering Compensation for Truck Accident
The sheer size and weight of a truck can magnify the impact of a truck collision and the severity of the injuries to victims of an auto accident.
Depending on the circumstances of the accident, a victim can suffer a traumatic brain injury, which is often manifested by loss of consciousness, loss of limbs, spinal cord injury, and other wounds. Emergency treatment and medical procedures are often necessary to save the lives of those injured.
Continued treatment and rehabilitation may also be required for a complete recovery. The costs of recovery and income lost as a result of time spent away from work can be huge.
If you or a loved one is injured in a truck accident, you may be entitled to compensation.
